Every year, governments and infrastructure owners spend billions repairing roads that have failed long before their intended design life. Most road failures are not caused by traffic alone. They are caused by water.

whyEcosmart.waterTitle

More Than Heavy Vehicles. More Than Weather. More Than Age.

Water is responsible for the majority of premature pavement failures. When water enters untreated pavement, a chain reaction begins that ends in costly reconstruction.

1
Soil particles lose strength
2
Bearing capacity decreases
3
Clay expands
4
Traffic causes deformation
5
Cracks develop
6
Potholes form
7
Maintenance costs increase

EcoSmart is designed to reduce these risks by helping to control moisture movement within the stabilised pavement — protecting the structural layer where failure begins.

We Don't Just Stabilise Roads. We Engineer Infrastructure.

Unlike many conventional stabilisation products, EcoSmart is not designed simply to improve the road surface. It is engineered to improve the structural integrity of the pavement — using the materials already on site wherever possible. That difference changes everything.

Structural Depth

EcoSmart stabilises base and aggregate layers to 150–300 mm — where roads actually carry load — not just the surface.

Moisture Protection

Insoluble polymer bonds with clay fines throughout the full stabilised layer, controlling moisture movement and preventing saturation.

In-Situ Local Materials

EcoSmart works with the materials already on site, reducing the need to import aggregates and lowering both cost and environmental impact.

Long-Term Performance

Treated pavements remain flexible, resist cracking, and continue performing well beyond their theoretical design life.

Wearing Course Seal — High-Traffic Roads

On roads carrying high volumes of traffic, a Wearing Course Seal is recommended to protect the EcoSmart-treated aggregate base from surface abrasion and direct tyre wear. The stabilised structural layer provides the engineering performance; the wearing course seal preserves the surface integrity under sustained traffic loading. Our engineering team will advise on the appropriate surface treatment for your specific traffic conditions and design life requirements.

Why Depth Matters

Imagine constructing a building.

Would you strengthen only the paint on the walls… or the foundation beneath it?

Roads work exactly the same way. The structural pavement layer carries the traffic loads. When this layer becomes saturated, the road begins to fail. EcoSmart improves the performance of this critical layer — to depths of 150–300 mm.

Surface Treatment vs Structural Stabilisation

Not All Polymer Technologies Are the Same

Many products marketed as "polymer stabilisers" are actually surface treatment technologies — effective for dust suppression and erosion control, but not for structural improvement. EcoSmart is fundamentally different.

Note: Surface treatment products (5–20 mm penetration) remain effective for dust suppression, surface sealing, erosion control and temporary access roads. EcoSmart is engineered for a different purpose — structural pavement stabilisation to 150–300 mm depth.

Six Reasons EcoSmart Delivers Where Others Fall Short

Structural Performance

Designed to improve pavement behaviour throughout the structural layer — not just at the surface.

Moisture Resistance

Helps reduce water infiltration into stabilised materials, protecting the pavement from the inside out.

Flexible Pavement System

Supports a pavement that accommodates traffic loading and environmental movement without relying solely on rigid cementitious bonds.

Sustainable Construction

Encourages reuse of existing pavement materials where suitable, reducing the demand for imported aggregates.

Lower Whole-of-Life Costs

By improving durability and reducing maintenance frequency, EcoSmart helps lower the total cost of ownership over the life of the asset.

In-Situ Material Reuse

Works with local materials already on site — minimising haulage, reducing carbon footprint, and cutting project costs.
